Boxes Fix in Short, But Hurt Longer

With the quarantine period we are all now facing, many customers have asked about using home dying kits on their hair. My short answer is NO, don't do it.

There are many reason's why, and a quick google search will give you hundreds.

From my personal experience and customers that have used them in the past, coming to me crying that their hair is a mess, they sit in the chair for 4 to 6 hours instead of 3 to 4 and at the worst cases have had to cut off more than half their hair as it was so damaged. Also having to spend 2 to 3 times what they would have had to spend if they came to me first.

But the main reasons for me, is that they don't work the way you want them to, especially if you have highlights or a balayage. The home kits are designed to to do your whole head of hair and not just parts, so trying to use them to touch up roots, is not going to work, you will just end up with multicolored hair. Or even make your hair orange, which I know you don't want.

My husband just told me that he tried a home kit as a teenager with his sister to go blond, and it didn't work, and he has a medium brown hair. As everyone's hair is different, you will get a different result to your friend. Each kit is different, and every professional will tell you to stay away from them.

The best thing you can do for your hair at this time, is let it grow out. I know this sounds horrible, and your husband will now see your natural hair color and maybe a few grey hairs, oh the horror!! But actually, this is not bad, as letting your hair rest for a bit longer than normal means that when you can finally go for your next appointment, you will have stronger and healthier hair.
